Hello my name is Tabre Perez. Welcome to my homepage for INF250

About Me

For most of my life I have been fascinated with computing and understanding how computers work. I got my first computer at a young age, started taking them apart and putting them back together, and building my own by the time I was in my early teen years. I got into programming when I was about 12 years old, and although I never persued a career that was directly related to computing until recently, I have always enjoyed it. I have been tinkering with web development for over 20 years, and so I have seen how things have evolved over time in this space. The first website I ever developed was a personal website that I created in Macromedia Flash, a now deprecated technology. I now work in the engineering department of a manfuacturing company where I am responsible for the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Aquisition) system for the entire enterprise. The SCADA system is responsible for collecting relevant process data from all manufacturing machines across our many sites in the US, storing it in databases, and making that data available via user interfaces. My favorite SCADA software is Ignition by Inductive Automation - check out the video below to learn more about it. Once I get my degree in computer science, I plan to continue working in the field and to delve more into lower-level aspects of computing. I find that one of the most fun, yet challenging aspects of this field is the rapid pace at which it evolves.
